    MVNT Job Announcement:

    The Methow Valley Nordic Team (MVNT), located in Winthrop, Washington, seeks a Program and Coaching Director to lead our cross-country ski team of over 120 young skiers. Qualified individuals must have a proven record of successful ski coaching and a good understanding of the demands of a competitive ski program.The salary range is up to $30,000 for an 11-­‐ month position.     MVNT is part of the non-profit Methow Valley Nordic Ski Educational Foundation. Our mission is to engage youth in Nordic skiing and racing, challenging them to attain personal goals and teaching them skills for a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.

    Spring Training is Now OPEN (Register Today)

    J2 & Older Athletes!

    Join Laura McCabe April 18th through May, 2012, every Wednesday for a ski specific workout after school.  The sessions promise to be fun and easy, working exclusively on technique and easy distance.  Sessions include strength training at Winthrop Physical Therapy twice a week.

    Playing a spring sport?  No worries, if you can fit it in, this could be your once-a-week over-distance workout.  

    *If you can’t sign-up, we still hope to see you out there with your team for at least one session. 

    Minimum Number of Sign-Ups Needed:
    Athletes, make sure you get as many of your teammates to sign up!

    Methow Junior Race Sunday at the Bitterbrush/Barnsley loops, leave from the town trail head at 11:15, ski out for a warm up and then race, sign up at the start area which will be out on Barnsley.

    PNSA Methow Summer Camp - August  17-21,  2011

    The camp will be based in Mazama with athletes sleeping in tents with access to showers.  We will go on a two night backpacking trip in the beautiful Sawtooth mountains near Winthrop.  Training will take place in the Mazama/Winthrop area, focusing on technique, fitness and fun.  All athletes should bring camping equipment (tent per 2-4, sleeping pad, sleeping bag), rollerskis (both skate and classic), boots and poles, bike helmet, running shoes, backpacking pack, those that have it-backpacking stove and cooking pot, eating gear for backpacking(ie. Bowl, spork, mug) swimsuit and summer clothing for 5 days of activity and a heart rate monitor.


    Summer Training Starts Next Month

    J2 and older athletes, be sure to register for summer training.  Sam Naney will again conduct three sessions a week throughout the summer.  Hike, roller ski, run, jump, skip and get dirty this summer having fun and getting into shape for the 2011-2012 ski season.  First session starts the second week in June.
